MOORESTOWN, NJ — Burlington County businessowner and Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“I was fortunate. My father built a successful company and when it came time for college, I didn’t need to worry about loans. But, my wife Bobbi did… and so do countless friends, as well as a number of our 1,600 employees at Viking.

There is no doubt that higher education debt is a real issue and we need to find ways to bring down the cost of getting an education so it is accessible to everyone who wants it. But, asking hardworking taxpayers who sacrificed and saved to pay off their loans – or the nearly 60% of New Jersey residents who never went to college – to shoulder the burden of this, likely illegal vote-buying scheme by President Biden utilizing an executive order, is wrong and I oppose it. A working class family or senior on a fixed income should not be paying off the college loans of a couple making $249,999 a year. Congressman Kim votes with President Biden 100% of the time, so I won’t hold my breath waiting for him to oppose this, but the voters of this district need to know there is a clear difference between us on this issue.

Let me provide an example: John graduates high school and takes out a loan for $50,000 to start his plumbing company. He buys plenty of expensive tools, a work truck, and learns a trade. Chris graduates high school and chooses to take out a loan for $50,000 to go to college to study liberal arts. John works for 5 years to build and pay for his investment. Chris graduates from college with a debt he can’t afford to pay. Chris gets his debt forgiven by Joe Biden. John’s taxes go up to pay for Chris’s unpaid debts. John then gets audited by 1 of the 87,000 new IRS agents, and has to prove his truck and tools are actual work expenses. Welcome to America under Joe Biden.”

House Campaign Chair Describes Democrats Like Kim as ‘Out of Touch’

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Burlington County businessowner and Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“In an interview last week, the head of the House Democratic Campaign Committee came suspiciously close to identifying our Congressman Andy Kim as ‘out of touch’ and ‘elitist.’

The chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), Rep. Sean Maloney, explained to the New York Times, that: ‘…most of the voters … think that we’re out of touch, they think we’re elitist, we think we are better than they are.’ 1

Maloney went on to describe Andy Kim to a tee … ‘Voters want nothing to do with Democrats’ progressive agenda’. 2 Andy Kim, unlike most of the NJ delegation’s House Democrats, is a member of the extreme left House Progressive Caucus.

The DCCC leader added, ‘Democrats don’t talk like human beings … If you listen to the way we talk and communicate, it is not the way my voters talk. It’s not the way my neighbors talk, it’s not the way my family talks. If I’m talking to a sheet metal worker in Pine Bush, he doesn’t talk about communities of color, he doesn’t use the word “rubric.” He doesn’t talk about — the first-generation folks working in Newburgh don’t use the word “Latinx.” Most people don’t understand who are cisgender, why they need to put pronouns on their email signature.’ 3

The New York Congressman further confessed, ‘The American Rescue Plan did help drive inflation, but Americans should be grateful Democrats didn’t do Build Back Better’. 4 Rep. Andy Kim still holds the position that so-called ‘American Rescue Plan’ wasn’t inflationary, and brags about voting for a bill to double the budget of the IRS.”

GOP Challenger cites growing number of Democrats jumping ship

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“Despite 20 months of Biden-Pelosi policy failures – from skyrocketing inflation, gas & food prices, to putting the IRS on steroids with 87,000 more agents – Congressman Andy Kim continues to vote for Joe Biden’s failed agenda 100% of the time.

Rep. Kim seems determined to go down with the ship—voting just last Friday with Biden & Pelosi for a bill that raises taxes on the middle class and, again, fails to restore the SALT deduction that he promised for nearly four years to restore.

Despite posing as a moderate when he’s back in New Jersey, when in Washington, the Progressive Caucus member Andy Kim is a hardcore partisan, voting 100% in lockstep with Joe Biden.

Some Democrats are realizing that sticking with Biden is a losing strategy and now, facing November defeat, are scrambling to abandon ship and declare their independence.

The real question now is when will the Kim campaign start running ads claiming that he’s an independent thinker, rather than the Biden clone he’s been for the last two years?

From promising to oppose Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and then voting for her anyway; to pretending to be a moderate and then joining the radical progressive caucus; to campaigning on restoring the SALT deduction and then failing to get it done; Andy Kim’s record is littered with saying one thing and doing another.  So, Andy, tell us, how long till you start running ads bailing on Biden to save your own skin?”

GOP Challenger Says Congressman’s Boasting at Odds with Economic Experts

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“Congressman Kim stated the other day that the spend & tax bill he voted for last week “…will fight inflation and lower costs for American families while setting the stage for strong, stable, and broadly-shared long-term economic growth”. 1

Truth-in-advertising is not a concept Washington politicians like Andy Kim seem to understand.

The respected, independent Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania studied the bill and said of it: ‘The impact on inflation is statistically indistinguishable from zero’. 2

No matter how the Congressman tries to spin it, the fact is he voted for a bill that raises taxes on the middle class. A bill that raises taxes on New Jerseyans who already pay the highest taxes in the country – while capitulating on restoring the SALT deduction Andy Kim promised to bring back.

Even worse is Rep. Kim’s insulting claim that a $740 billion radical tax and spend spree will ‘cut $300 Billion off the National Debt.’  As analyses by both the Wharton economists and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) suggest, the only way to spend billions and reduce the federal deficit is by instructing the 87,000 new IRS agents to fleece more money out of already financially stretched middle-class taxpayers.  But, come to think of it, maybe that was President Biden and Congressman Kim’s plan all along!”

Rep. Kim ‘MIA” on SALT Fight Says Healey

GOP Challenger Slams Incumbent for Breaking Promise to Restore SALT Deduction

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“Where’s Congressman Kim? As some of his New Jersey Democrat colleagues fight to reinstate the SALT deduction, Congressman Kim is ‘Missing-In-Action.’

Rep. Gottheimer, and four other members on Friday sent a letter to the Chairman of the tax-writing committee urging reinstatement of the state and local tax (SALT) deduction that allows taxpayers of high-tax states to deduct local tax payments on their federal tax returns. Rep. Kim did not sign the letter. Why?

Congressman Kim literally ran on the promise of restoring the SALT deduction in 2018 and failed in his first term. In 2020, during his first re-election campaign, he said if he just had a Democratic President, he could get it done.  He got what he wanted and failed again.

Now, when he has a chance to stand up and be counted in support of restoring the SALT deduction he’s clearly given up, he quit.  What else would you expect from someone who votes with Joe Biden’s failed agenda 100% of the time?

And, worse still, on Friday he voted for a bill that raises taxes on the middle class. A bill that raises taxes on New Jerseyans who already pay the highest taxes in the country – while capitulating on restoring the SALT deduction he promised to bring back.

The facts are clear: Rep. Kim’s support for restoring the SALT deduction is a fraud.  He broke his promise.  NJ-03 voters deserve a representative who fights for his constituents.”

Healey: Support Our Voluntary Military –
Do Not Bar Access to Students

MARLBORO, NJ — Local Businessman and Candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“I wish to applaud Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn and Assemblyman Gerry Scharfenberger (Monmouth R’s) for introducing legislation to end the practice by some New Jersey School Districts that bar members of the United States Military and ROTC from speaking with students.

I share the view of these state legislators that the barring of military personnel from schools is an affront to the men and women who put their lives on the line in defense of our nation.

The honorable act of serving one’s country in the armed forces is something that should be encouraged, and I do not believe it’s the place of schools to interfere with or inhibit the free exchange of information between those who protect us and those who may wish to pursue such valued vocations.

I sincerely hope Congressman Kim, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, and professes to support our military, will join me in standing up for the men and women who protect all of us.

Countries as diverse as Sweden, Israel, Mexico, and many other countries require compulsory military service to defend themselves.

We are fortunate in this country to maintain an all-volunteer military, but it’s critical that our service branches are not arbitrarily blocked from interacting with prospective enlistees.”

Healey Opposes “Inflation Reduction Act” as Irresponsible Spending Action

Calls on Congressman Kim to Vote Against ‘Supersizing’ the IRS

MOORESTOWN, NJ— Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“As the economy teeters on the edge of a full-blown recession, only out-of-touch politicians in Washington, D.C. could put forward a federal spend-a-thon and give it a title claiming to do something it doesn’t. In Washington, higher taxes equals ‘revenue enhancements’ and more federal spending is ‘deficit reduction.’”

The new Senate spend-a-thon measure illustrates the Democrat view on tax relief: nothing for taxpayers, money for special interests, and $80 billion for the IRS tax bureaucracy with an almost assured mandate to make up the difference by 87,000 new enforcement agents auditing middle class households and small businesses.

If Rep. Kim was serious about addressing his constituents’ inflation concerns, we would vigorously oppose this irresponsible spending action. Unfortunately, Kim’s shown himself to be a partisan rubberstamp who votes 100% in lockstep with Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi. The spending priorities of Biden, Pelosi, and Kim start with creating a new army of tens of thousands of tax agents to harass taxpayers.  What America really needs is tens of thousands more police, more border guards and more school security officers.

The Inflation Reduction Act passed by the Senate includes almost one-half trillion ($430 billion) in new spending including the doubling the size of the IRS. Every honest economist will admit that today’s four-decade high inflation is caused in large part by the Biden Administration’s unrestrained, unchecked march to fiscal insolvency. Now Senate Democrats, with the support of their House colleagues like Rep. Andy Kim, have endorsed even more spending under the dubiously titled initiative, the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

The independent, non-partisan Tax Foundation’s analysis of the spending and tax provisions of the bill would have negative net impact on GDP (-0.1%), job growth (-30,000) and wages (-0.1%). 1 Increasing federal revenues is Democrat code for Biden-Kim to increase taxes—exactly what the economy does not need. Worse still, Rep. Kim promised to restore the SALT deduction, yet after three and a half years of a Democrat-controlled House and a year-and-a-half with a Democratic President, still no action, just more spending.

Since 2019, the Congress’ unrestrained spending has created budget deficits over the last three fiscal years totaling a mind-numbing $6.884 trillion. 2 While some of these federal outlays were justified by a once-in-a-century pandemic, the country is moving out of that crisis.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“Andy Kim claims to be a moderate but votes for Joe Biden’s inflationary agenda 100% of the time – so we already know he’s a hypocrite,” said business owner and NJ-03 GOP challenger Bob Healey. “But now he’s doubling down on his hypocrisy by running political ads calling for a ban on stock trading by Members of Congress, while remaining completely silent about his New Jersey Democratic colleague, Josh Gottheimer, being the #1 congressional abuser of this same practice.”

Healey said it’s put up or shut up time for Rep. Kim.

“Let’s be clear: If Andy doesn’t have the courage of his convictions and the courage to call out his colleague, then his political ad isn’t worth the money he paid Facebook to run it.”

Healey Statement on Congressman Kim Trip

August 2, 2022

Bob Healey, Congressional Candidate in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District today issued the following statement in response to Congressman Kim’s trip with Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

“While I genuinely appreciate Congressman Kim’s desire to join a congressional trip that includes a visit to the country his parents immigrated from, I question whether now is the right time.  The Congressman’s constituents are cancelling their own vacations and facing down a recession, record inflation, and spiking crime.  For their representative in Washington to be taking a completely voluntary, taxpayer-funded junket overseas, while his constituents struggle at home strikes me as tone deaf and and detached from the people he represents in Burlington, Mercer, and Monmouth Counties.”
