Rep. Kim’s Debate Comments at Odds with Facts

MOORESTOWN, NJ – Burlington County business owner and Republican candidate for Congress Bob Healey today issued the following statement:

“In last night’s New Jersey Globe debate, Congressman Kim was consistently untruthful in his comments, showing himself to be the classic Washington politician—claiming credit for actions he did not take and denying his own behavior that is well documented.

On the issue of defense, Rep. Kim claimed he never voted for a pay cut for our troops. Unfortunately, Kim voted against Log 2468 to H.R. 7900, which would give certain members of the military a 2.4% pay raise to meet with inflation. Worse still, Mr. Kim has also never spoken out against his Progressive Caucus colleagues who have proposed a 10% cut in defense spending. 

On the question of voting in lockstep with Joe Biden’s agenda, Rep. Kim claimed this is not true, going so far as to say he called the New York Times and they didn’t have it. Yet, the New York Times has, in fact, published a report that shows Andy Kim’s 100% support for Biden policies. Rep. Kim claimed last night that he’s never supported defunding the police, but a quick fact check shows that he is an active member of the left-wing Progressive Caucus, which has fought for “limiting transfers of military-grade equipment to local law enforcement…” and “reforming immunity for police officers…” Worse still, Rep. Kim has many ties to leftist organizations that have called for defunding the police including: Indivisible, Friends of Our Revolution South Jersey, DFA-NJ, etc… and has never challenged his Caucus colleagues’ repeated calls for defunding law enforcement.

Rep. Kim claimed in his debate remarks that he puts a lot of effort in combatting antisemitism. The truth is Andy has always remained silent when is CPC colleagues Pramila Jayapal, Ilhan Omar, and AOC have made numerous anti-Semitic comments over the years. Rise Stronger, a resistance organization founded by Andy Kim, also listed a book by an anti-Semite named Amiri Baraka.  

Probably most disappointing of all of Mr. Kim’s mis-statements was the claim that a bill – “Capping Drugs for Seniors Act of 2021” (H.R. 4417) was his legislation, when in fact the official congressional website shows Rep. Steven Horsford as the bill’s ‘sponsor’, not Andy Kim. 

Andy Kim has spent four years in Washington as a partisan, left wing legislator, who then returns to our state periodically and poses as a bi-partisan moderate. 

The congressman has spent four years as an ineffective backbencher, who’s preoccupied with making politically correct comments while ignoring the serious economic consequences of his votes. 

He’s been ‘Andy One-Note’ in this campaign failing to speak out –let alone offer any real solutions– to the ever-rising gas and grocery prices, and the increase in crime that plagues his constituents. On November 8, despite all the negative advertising Andy Kim has leveled against me, voters won’t be fooled into returning Andy to Congress as their representative.”

CLAIM: AK claimed he doesn’t know Larry Krasner. 

FACT & TRUTH: The Soros family has also backed Krasner and Andy has received tens of thousands of dollars from the Soros family.
