MOORESTOWN, NJ — Local business owner and candidate for Congress Bob Healey today said that the use of critical race theory (CRT) in K-12 education is “antithetical to the words and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King” and called on incumbent Andy Kim, card-carrying member of the radical Progressive Caucus, to unequivocally denounce it.

Kim suggested on video last year that he had “tools…at the federal level” to mandate certain school curriculum.  Today, Healey called that “typically evasive word salad from a career politician and DC insider desperate to hide his true identity as the founder of a far-left resistance organization and member of the radical Progressive Caucus.  Rep. Kim needs to speak out now and speak out clearly.  Do you or do you not support Critical Race Theory in our schools?”

“We have a national holiday for all Americans to honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Yet, sadly, his vision for a country where children would ‘not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character’ is being distorted through the insertion of critical race theory in our schools,” declared the lifelong Burlington County resident.

“Classroom lessons meant to recount the history of the civil rights movement and fight for racial equality are being tainted by the implementation of CRT, which is based solely in divisive political theory. While racism exists in our society, as in others around the world – and we need to do everything possible to stamp it out – I do not believe that America is at its core a racist society,” noted Healey. “I wholly reject that false premise.”

Critical Race Theory (CRT) advocates assert that racism is embedded within American legal systems and institutions, which ultimately replicate and allow the continuation of racial inequality. CRT proponents maintain that racism is codified within the law and embedded in American legal structures, including the United States Constitution and justice system, and cannot change until the system itself is transformed.

“Critical race theory teaches children to view all issues through the lens of race, ultimately categorizing themselves into groups of privileged oppressors and victims of oppression. In effect, telling white children that they are guilty of a crime they never committed, and telling black and brown children that the world is aligned against them to such a degree that they are trapped. There is nothing more racist than the idea that you can target an ethnic group with a collective crime, regardless of the specific innocence or guilt of the individual members of that group.  It’s outrageous and morally reprehensible,” added Healey.
